This painting was inspired by a photo of the photographer Dorian "Scottie" Wilson . The project, masculinity is a prison, "is when a men reinforce the idea that men should suppress and ignore softer displays of emotions that are associated with women." The dread and fear that men have when they show their softer side as a result of making them appear "gay" or not a man.
